Garratt Gallagher, robotics engineer at MIT has created this open source and affordable robot platform using which allows anyone with a small amount of programming experience to take advantage of the cutting edge technology in the field of robotics.

This is what Gallagher has to say about his project
“Like many hobbyists, I’ve been putting together a robot using an iRobot create and a kinect. However, unlike most people, I’m researching laptops and mini-itx computers to build a low cost full-package robot that will come with Linux and ROS pre-installed. Everything I’m working with is open source, and I’m planning to release all specifications once I find a good solution. (I will also set up a site to sell all the necessary parts, as well as pre-assembled versions) What I’m doing now is trying to raise funds to buy these computers, so I can find one that can run fast enough but still be cheap and light. I’m also offering some cool incentives to people who kick in funding. The bilibot.com address currently redirects to the kickstarter site:

I would appreciate it if you could mention this project on your site, since I think a lot of would-be roboticists would love to get their hands on this type of development platform.”
